The ANSWΣR™ TΣ ... Description

Monitor

The ANSWΣR™ TΣ (Teacher's Edition) desk is designed to use a 15", 17" or 19" flat screen monitor. These are available as standard TFT monitors or can be ordered with a hardened glass front (15" and 17" only).

Monitor Arm

The monitor arm enables the teacher to easily adjust the vertical height and horizontal location of the monitor for an ergonomically comfortable position.

Additionally, when a teacher, from the seated position at the desk, wants line of sight to the class, the monitor can be swung to the side of the desk providing a clear view without monitor obstruction. The monitor arm also retracts the monitor into the compartment within the desk frame to enable it to be stored when not in use.

Monitor Mounting

The monitor arm is attached to a proprietary mounting that moves from a location within the desk frame (stored location) to a location above the desktop (active location). The arm allows for the monitor and mechanism to be stored out of sight when not in use and enables the user to position the monitor above the desk for ergonomic use and to provide for a clear desktop.

Desktop

The desktop is a clear and continuous surface whether or not IT is in use. The desktop remains closed (and locked) during normal use of the PC, removing the possibility that a user can accidentally damage the PC or tamper with any of its connections.

For purposes of maintenance or upgrade, however, the PC is easily accessible by authorised personnel. An administrator can unlock and raise the desktop, which hinges at the rear, to gain access to the PC.

Monitor Storage Cover

To access the monitor after the desks have been unlocked, the storage cover opens on a hinge, moving through 180 degrees. After raising the monitor, keyboard and mouse from within the compartment, the user closes the storage cover back through 180 degrees to return it to its closed position. The user always has a closed, flat desktop, regardless of the location of the monitor.

Monitor Storage Area

When not in use, the monitor, keyboard and mouse can be securely stored away in this lockable compartment.

Access to the compartment is controlled by a switch located on the Control Panel. There is also a separate key lock located in the centre section of the desk which, when locked, overrides the switch, preventing users from gaining access to IT equipment. There is also an optional wireless (fob) control system which enables a teacher to remotely engage / disengage the switch, thus controlling when a student has access to the IT equipment.

Optical Drive (optional)

An optional optical drive can be located within the centre section of the desk, accessible to the users from the front of the desk. The optical drive is available as:

Computer

The computer case is specially designed to be housed in the locked desktop compartment. This unique design minimises tampering, increases security from damage and theft and enhances appearance.

For purposes of service or upgrade, the desktop can be opened by an IT Administrator by unlocking the key lock located on the underside of the desktop.

Computer Control Panel

The control panel is located on the front of the monitor storage area. It contains:

Desk Height Adjustment

The height of the desk can be specified at time of order and adjusted by 20mm using the adjustable leg fittings.

Projector Storage Area

When not in use the projector can be securely stored away in this lockable compartment.

Projector Arm

The projector arm enables the teacher to easily adjust the vertical height and horizontal location of the projector to correspond with the location of a wall mounted screen.

The projector arm also retracts the projector into the compartment within the desk frame to enable it to be securly stored when not in use.

The projector is attached to the arm using a special designed, locked housing to add to the level of security.

Digital Projector

The ANSWΣR™ TΣ (Teacher's Edition) desk is deisgned to use a Sharp digital projector (SVGA or XGA). Alternative projectors can be used assuming the overall size is sufficiently small to fit within the storage area.

Projector Mounting

The projector arm is attached to a proprietary mounting that moves from a location within the desk frame (stored location) to a location above the desktop (active location). The arm allows for the projector and mechanism to be stored out of sight when not in use and enables the user to position the projector above the desk for use with any wall mounted screen or whiteboard.

Projector Storage Cover

To access the projector, the storage cover open on a hinge, moving through 180 degrees. After raising the projector and the optional writing pad from within the compartment, the teacher closed the storage cover back through 180 degress to return it to its closed position. The teacher always has a clsoed, flat desktop, regardless of the location of the projector.
